Aerodrome Warnings
Bedford Aerodrome forms the eastern 1100m of the original RAE Bedford 3000m runway. On the disused western part of the runway intensive car storage takes place. There is a fence at the western end of the new Bedford Aerodrome runway.
Occasional helicopter movements to Bedford Autodrome helipad 1 nm from runway
Aerodrome is a major landmark in the area and frequently used as a VRP
Aircraft using the instrument approach procedure for Cranfield may be overhead at an altitude of 2500 ft
Visiting aircraft should contact Cranfield Approach on
122.850
for traffic co-ordination purposes
Arrival Instructions
EGBF is VFR only - IFR traffic must either make an initial approach to Cranfield and position to EGBF after cloud break, or cancel IFR and continue VFR
VFR traffic must contact Cranfield Approach on

at least 10 miles before arrival at EGBF
IFR traffic must co-ordinate with Cranfield Approach on
122.850
at least 15 miles before arrival at EGBF
All traffic to call Bedford Radio on

at least 5 miles before arrival at EGBF

Departure Instructions
Bedford Radio may be unmanned if operating unlicensed - make blind calls
Try to depart using runway 26 if possible for noise abatement
When departing runway 26, climb straight ahead to 1000 ft AGL
When departing runway 08 turn right 20 deg asap after take off and climb 1000 ft AGL
VFR departures should call Cranfield Approach on
122.850
immediately on departure
Aircraft should not climb above 1500ft on QNH unless talking to Cranfield Aproach
IMPORTANT
- Cranfield IFR traffic may be overhead EGBF at altitude 2500ft
IFR flight plans should be faxed to Cranfield ATC on

immediately prior to departure
All departures must avoid the Cranfield instrument approach and ATZ
